3 more than sth 超越(某范围):
The house was far beyond what I could afford.这房子远超过我的负担能力。I haven't heard anything beyond a few rumours.我只听到几句传闻。
4 used to say that sth is not possible (用于指某事不可能):
The car was completely beyond repair (= too badly damaged to repair).这辆车已经完全无法修理。The situation is beyond my control.形势已经非我所能控制。
5 too far or too advanced for sb/sth 超乎(能力范围):
The activity was beyond the students' abilities.这活动超出了学生的能力范围。
be beyond sb(informal 非正式) to be impossible for sb to understand or imagine 令人无法理解或想象:
