/maɪt ||; maɪt/ modal verb (negative might not short form mightn't /ˈmaɪtnt ||; ˈmaɪtṇt/)
1 used for saying that sth is possible (表示某事可能发生)可能: ‘Where's Vinay?’ ‘He might be upstairs.’ “维纳在哪儿?”“他可能在楼上。” I think I might have forgotten the tickets. 我觉得我可能忘了带票。 She might not come if she's very busy. 如果她很忙,就可能来不了。
2 (Brit 英) (formal 正式) used to ask for sth or suggest sth very politely (用于礼貌地提出请求或建议): I wonder if I might go home half an hour early today? 不知道今天我可不可以早半个小时回家呢?
